WOW!  What a windy day in Rye!  Many students were absent first and second hours due to power outages that led to no alarms going off, etc.  Because of that, I let my Algebra students use today for a “Catch Up” day.  They had time to work on missing homework and corrections, and to get my help with things they’re stuck on.  No new assignment was given, which actually worked out well because tomorrow is a teacher In-Service day and the students have a 3 day weekend.

I am giving a re-take of the chapter 9 Algebra test at lunch today for students who got a grade of ‘F’.

In Geometry we went on to section 11-6 which dealt with volume of cones and pyramids.

Assignment: pp618-620, #10-18 Evens, #26-34 Evens.

Conferences are 4-7pm today and tomorrow.  Students receive 30 pts. extra credit if parent(s) attend.  Friday there is no school.

Algebra classes have been continuing in Chapter 9.  This week we discussed scientific notation, monomials, polynomials and degrees of monomials and polynomials.  Tomorrow we will take the mid-chapter 9 Quiz.  They will be allowed to use notes, books and work in groups if they choose to do so.

Due 3/22 – pp517-519, #17-38 All; #42

This week in geometry we have been continuing our work with polygons and the area formulas for various polygons have been presented.  We took the mid-chapter 10 Quiz on Tuesday and everyone did very well.  Today we started on Section 10-5, but we didn’t get through all the examples, so no written work was assigned.  We’ll do that in class tomorrow.

Due 3/20 – pp539-541, #12-24 Multiples of Three; #31; #34-40 Evens.

In Class Thursday 3/22 – pp548-550, #14-30 Even, #41, #42-51 All.
